Physician Created

Lightning Charts dynamic charting is the brain-child of two board certified emergency medicine physicians who between them have more than 60 years of experience in the ED. It’s this combined experience and shared passion for software and healthcare that led to the creation of Lightning Charts.

John Uphold MD FACEP is the founder and CEO of Lightning Charts. John also founded Physicians Choice an ED physician billing company that bills for dozens of ED’s and UC centers. This unique access to billing and coding information combined with a physicians knowledge of Emergency Department and Urgent Care work flow contributed to the creation of our truly unique and intuitive dynamic documentation software.

Stephen Miley MD FACEP is Chief Medical Officer and Executive VP of Development of Lightning Charts. Steve was the founder and first CEO of MedHost, a patient tracking software that is currently in use in hundreds of hospitals nationwide. Steve is also past President of the National Association for Ambulatory Care, the predecessor to today’s Urgent Care Association of America. Steve’s experience in developing successful software for medical and non-medical applications makes him a recognized authority in software architecture.

With over 60 years combined experience in the ED, these two highly skilled and successful clinicians have combined their expertise in coding, billing and software design to bring you Lightning Charts, the first clinically complete documentation software, that charts dynamically, and provides the ED and UC physician with a documentation product that is clinically complete as well as being a pleasure to use.

When physicians experience Lightning Charts they invariably and quickly recognize that this is not simply software that was created by software developers based on physician committee inputs. This is software that has been personally created by two ED physicians who know first hand what ED and UC physician documentation needs to be.

Lightning Charts was truly created by physicians for physicians. And it shows.
